あの噂は本当だった。11月17日、ついてGoogle ファッションに参入してきた。Googleはファッションサイト「Boutiques.com」を立ちあげた。ざっくりと Fashionsnap.comで紹介されており、ファッションなどの解説はこちらを参考になります。あのGoogleのことだ、ただのECサイトであるはずがない。興味に駆り立てられたわたしは Boutiques.com を調査してみることにした。
Boutiques.com の特徴
TechCurnch の記事でもあるように、特徴は大きく分けて検索とブチックである。
Google の高速検索と Like.com のビジュアル検索エンジンの融合
Boutiques.comの検索はLike.comの強力版だ。何かのアイテムを検索するときに、色、シルエット、パターン、サイズ、スタイル、お店、などなどでフィルタできる。検索結果（デフォルトでは”全部見る”）の隣に、その検索とマッチするWeardrobeとCouturiousの表示がある。たとえば私がターコイズのドレスを探すと、Weardrobeからのユーザが寄稿したターコイズのドレスや、Couturiousからのプロがスタイリングした着こなしなどが表示される。また、Googleとは関係ないPolyvoreなど、外部サイトのスタイリングも見られる。

要点としては、Google の高速検索に人間の持つ感覚が加わり、より人にやさしい検索エンジンになったということだ。これにより偶然の出会い(セレンディピティ)を演出することができ、まるで実際にショッピングに行く感覚であり、早さはそれを超えている。
イノベータークラスのブチックがユーザの購買意欲を促す
Shah (Like.comのCEO)は、Boutiques.comはファッションのPandoraだと言う。Pandoraでは、ユーザが自分の放送局を作って、当人の好みやアクションに基づいて個人化された音楽のレコメンデーションを受信できる。Boutiques.comでは、それが音楽ではなくファッションになる。つまりユーザ自身のミニブチックができて、そこに、デザイナーやセレブたちが選んだ服、靴、スタイル、バッグなどが並ぶ。また、自分が選んだものだけのブチックも作れる。もちろん、それらのアイテムは買うことができる（ほかの検索エンジンと同様、品物をクリックするとそれを売っているお店へ行く）。

要点としては、ファッションの客層におけるトップクラス、イノベータークラス等の人に影響を与える人たちが自身のブチックを公開することで購買意欲のあるユーザの刺激となり購入を促すことになる。売りたい商品はそのような上位層の人に与えるだけで売れる仕組みになる。さらに、レコメンデーション機能 (ユーザの趣味嗜好の蓄積を行い、興味のありそうな商品を表示する) によりユーザの好みの商品と出会う確率が増し購買意欲はさらに加速することになる。
Boutiques.com 表示速度の速さに注目 (失敗)
実際に Boutiques.com で商品を検索してみると検索結果の表示の速さを体感できる。検索結果のレスポンスはもちろん、表示結果も高速化にも注目したい。またまた興味に駆り立てられたわたしは表示速度を Boutiques.com と Amazon.com を比較してみることにした。調査には Firefox のアドオン YSlow を使用し、ファーストビューでの読み込みが調査対象であり、何度も閲覧するショッピングサイトなのでキャッシュは有りと考える。ちなみに広告は OFF にしています。

商品の表示数や写真のクオリティーの違いから容量の差が大きいですが HTTP Requests に注目すると、Boutiques.com はどのページも平均の HTTP Requests は25回となっていました。このあたりは Google のやさしさ設計が伺えます。
